Burgundy, known as Bourgogne in France, is famous for premium white and red still wines made from Chardonnay and Pinot Noir. Centered around the historic town of Beaune, the Cote dOr region is divided into the northern Côtes de Nuits, where vineyards such as Gevrey Chambertin and Vosne-Romanée exist and the Southern Côtes de Beaune where appellations like Meursault and Puligny-Montrachet can be found. Value can be found in the southern regions of the Cote Challonaise and the Macconais where wines are more fruit driven and less structured.
