At the mouth of the Gironde river in France, Bordeaux has a moderate, maritime climate. Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot dominate the red wine blends on the left and right bank, whilst Sauvignon Blanc and Semillon blends produce the dry white wines and sweet offerings, such as Sauternes in the Graves region. Chateaux Latour, Margaux, Mouton-Rothschild, Lafite and Haut-Brion are internationally renowned from the famous 1855 classification and command some of highest prices in the world.
