Overview

• Château Carbonnieux is a wine producer based in the Pessac-Léognan region of Bordeaux. The estate was founded in the 13th Century and, throughout the following six centuries its ownership passed between many of France’s bourgeois families. The modern history of the château began in the mid-1900s when it was purchased by the Perrin family. The château and surrounding estate then went through a renovation that saw a new fermentation cellar and winery built, and an increase of vineyards from 45 to 92 hectares. Both the red and white wines of Château Carbonnieux were classified as Grand Cru Classé de Graves in 1959.

Tasting Notes:

• Château Carbonnieux red has for centuries been a great classic from the region of Bordeaux. With its high standard of quality, it is the smooth result of an excellent blending of grape varieties from this region. The vinification, both modern and traditional of red wines, is carried out by slow and gentle extraction in order to preserve the roundness of the wine and the mineral features of the soil. The tannins are well balanced and silky in harmony with red fruits (blackcurrant, blackberry, cherry…) and reveal toasted notes from aging in the finest quality French oak barrels.
