Overview

  • Château Gruaud Larose is a wine estate in the Saint-Julien appellation of the Médoc, ranked as a second growth in the 1855 Bordeaux Classification. The vineyard is situated southwest of the village of Beychevelle, on gravel banks sloping towards le Marais de Beychevelle, a marsh that separates Saint-Julien from the vineyards of the central Médoc. The soil is a mix of gravel, pebbles, sand, clay and humus over a subsoil of different clays, sand and pebbles. A total of 82ha (203 acres) are planted – 60% of vines are Cabernet Sauvignon, with 30% Merlot, 7% Cabernet Franc and 3% Petit Verdot.

Tasting Notes:

  • Gruaud Larose 2017 comes in a deep purple red color for violets and black gooseberries, roasted plum and black raspberry with notes of cigar, mint essential oil and dark chocolate. The wine is medium in density, elegant and very fine in texture with plump tannins and freshness, and innumerable aromas of vibrant red and black fruit with a rich mineral finish.

Food Pairing

  • Red meats ( beef, lamb, venison,…)
  • Grilled meats
